Model Call: A Great Opportunity For You

Well, to put it simply, a Model Call is generally a way for photographers to get experience and/or build up their portfolio in a specific style of photography that they may not have delved into much, or are looking to get into more. It may also be that a photographer may be training other photographers in certain styles or techniques and simply require models to complete the workshop effectively.

The Benefits of a Model Call

Where a photographer would usually charge you a ‘Session Fee’ of $50, $100, $150, and beyond, there is generally no session fee for a Model Call as you’re in a mutually beneficial situation by helping each other out. The photographer needs the photos for their work, the ‘model’ or ‘model provider’ (in the case of a newborn model call) will gain at least a small number of professional digital images for no cost.

What’s The Catch?

If there was a catch, it would be the fact that if the photographer hasn’t done any or many of the particular photography style they’re calling for and is using the Model Call to gain experience, there’s no guarantee of any specific number of photographs if they work at all. Which is obviously why there’s no charge, there are no guarantees.

This is a good chance to say that you should definitely check out some (or a lot) of their work before you agree to provide a model or be one yourself.”

Mind you, in saying that, a professional photographer (or aspiring) should and would be doing everything they can to be as professional as they can, and provide you with the best
photography they can so th
at you come back as a client! Would be rather silly not to, I think.

Is There A Way To Get More Or Specific Photos?

It all depends on how the shoot goes. If it goes well, then there should definitely be the option to purchase more than what is included in the original deal. If it goes not so well, it will be a discussion with the photographer to see if they want to try again or just leave it at that.

For me, I will generally include 5 digital images on USB for you to take home. If there were more photos taken that worked out well, you have the option to purchase as many or as few as you please. Or you can just simply take the freebies and be on your way. You can even still purchase other products to enhance your photos like a wall canvas, or just prints, the choice is yours.
